Punta Cana Holidays

Punta Cana is located in the eastern part of the Dominican Republic, in the province of La Altagracia. Punta Cana has many beaches that face both the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. Although the area is a bit deserted, Punta Cana has been a very popular travel destination in the last few decades due to the fact that major resorts of Uvero Alto and Bavaro are both very close. Punta Cana has almost fifty kilometers of shoreline and many celebrities, fashion designers, musicians and politicians are spending their holidays here.

Punta Cana has a tropical dry and wet climate. The average temperatures are pretty consistent throughout the year, with year-round average of around 30 C. The wet season lasts from May until October and it often features temperatures in the mid-30s C, while from November until April is the dry season without almost any rainfall.

Punta Cana has plenty of nice sandy beaches. Most of them fully equipped with all kinds of facilities. One of the most beautiful, but still one of the relatively untouched beaches is the Cabezo de Toro. It is located less than half an hour drive away from Bavaro and it has powdery white sand and warm shallow waters.

The area around Punta Cana offers various attractions such as boating, sailing, zip-lining, deep sea fishing, catamaran cruises, swimming with dolphins, snorkeling, whale-watching, exploring coral reefs and trips to popular small islands like Saona and Catalina. If you are staying in a hotel there are numerous options for entertainment, including live music nights, dancing shows or disco nights. If you want to explore further, Bavaro is just a few minutes walking away where you will find a few more bars and restaurants.

When it comes to taking trips and excursions, the Los Haitises National Park in Semana and the capital city of Santo Domingo are not too far away. The village of Altos de Chavon is another interesting place to see, designed to look like a Mediterranean village from the 16th century. It sits at the top of a cliff and there you will find a nice amphitheater, a few art-galleries and an archaeological museum, as well as few restaurants. Go on attractive safari excursions in the region around Punta Cana and experience the real life in the Dominican Republic. You can see typical local homes and plantations, or you can go on horseback riding trips in the country.

Daily trips to the Saona Island are always popular, where you can visit the natural reserves of the protected national park called Parque Nacional del Este. Animal lovers should visit the very attractive Manati Park, where you will find plenty of exotic birds and fish, and you can also get a chance to swim with dolphins. There are also plenty of nice gardens, full of tropical vegetation, where you can sit back and relax. Scape Park is another interesting theme park with plenty of rides, while Marinarium is a very nice water park featuring pools with stingrays and sharks.
