Grenada Holidays

The Caribbean island of Grenada is one of the most beautiful tropical islands in the world. It has a lovely environment made of volcanic and mountainous landscapes, gorges, tropical rainforests, coral reefs and fantastic white sandy beaches. The weather is always nice with average year-round temperatures of 28 C, so you can always expect nice warm temperatures regardless of the period of visit. Dry season is between January and May, while the months between June and December usually get most of the rainfall.

Many visitors, of course, choose Grenada because of its great beaches. There are a few dozen beaches on the island, and all of them are clean, wide and stunningly beautiful. If you explore a bit more you will also find many secluded coves where you can enjoy the sea all by yourself. Snorkeling lovers would enjoy Grenada, as there are many nice tropical fish species in its waters. Besides beaches, Grenada has many hiking trails where you can walk through the wilderness and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Rare flowers, birds, tropical animals and monkeys can be seen on many places. You can also find many nice spice plantations, which are exclusive to Grenada. Grenada`s capital of Saint George`s is a very nice city, where you will find one of the best beaches in the entire Caribbean called Grand Anse. Besides seeing the capital, you can go on numerous boat excursions to nearby islands if you are interested in diving, fishing, or exploring more beaches.

Visitors interested in history should head to the popular Carriacou Museum where you can learn more about Grenada. In this museum located in Hillsborough you will find many artifacts from the 18th century and other interesting exhibits. Grenada is well known for its many interesting fragrant spices. Go on a spice tour in one of the spice factories on the island, taste some samples and smell the beautiful aromas that come from Grenada.

Guided tours to rum distilleries are also very popular, and in the Sugar Factory located in the capital of St. George`s you can taste and buy some rum products.

If you like outdoor activities then go to the National Park of Grand Etang and join some of the hiking expeditions and walking excursions. The national park is home of a very attractive fauna and flora and is an interesting place to visit at any time of the year. La Sagesse Nature Reserve is another attractive place with many nice rivers, salt lakes and mangroves.

From the beautiful Grande Anse Beach in St. George`s you can go on diving trips to many nearby small islands and coral reefs. Moliniere Reef is one of the most popular diving spots in the region, located about five kilometers from the capital. Martin`s Bay and the White Island Marine Park are a couple of other great diving spots.

When it comes to events and festivals, in February there is one very attractive Sailing Festival which attracts sailors and yachts from everywhere in the world. Month of August is reserved for one large and colorful Carnival. There are lots of interesting street parties, live music performances and calypso dancing competitions going on all day and night.
