The island of Sardinia is located in the Mediterranean Sea and is the second biggest Italian Island after Sicily. Cagliari is the capital and the largest Sardinian city. Maddalena Archipelago with its National Park is great place to visit for nature lovers and for scuba divers. Caprera has beautiful pinewoods and is the place where the famous Garibaldi once lived. Stintino is a nice small town with beautiful white houses and crystal-clear sea waters. Stintino is great for boat excursions, golfing, horseback riding or cycling. If you visit La Pelosa Beach you will see a beautiful Tower dating from the sixteenth century. Oristano is popular for the landmark Tharros, which is an ancient archeological site that offers great sea views. In Cagliari you will find many different flamingo colonies near the lagoon, and Cagliari is also the place with lot of festivals and celebrations going on throughout the year. Festival of Sant'Efisio is the most popular event in Cagliari when you can attend interesting folklore and musical performances. Before leaving Sardinia do not forget to taste the traditional Sardinian dish called ‘porceddu’, which is grilled suckling pork meat covered with myrtle branches and served on a cork tray.
