Tobago is located in the southern Caribbean and is the smaller of the two islands that make the Caribbean country of Trinidad & Tobago. Tobago is just over thirty kilometers away from Trinidad and it offers much more relaxing atmosphere than Trinidad. Fort James offers nice views over the Great Courland Bay. Fort George in the town of Scarborough is another historic place to visit, evidencing the colonial history of Tobago. It was also built in the 18th century, but it has undergone some renovations throughout the years. Today it houses the interesting Tobago Museum. In this small museum you will find an interesting collection of colonial artifacts and ancient maps, as well as some skeletons and other remains.
When it comes to events, Tobago is home to two very popular annual events. The Jazz Festival at the end of April attracts musicians from all over the world, while Tobago Heritage Festival at the end of July and beginning of August is an attractive two-week long festival. It features traditional local dances, music shows and performances, cultural happenings and food events. It is a great event when you can witness the island`s local tradition and unique way of life.
