Tobago is located in the southern Caribbean and is the smaller of the two islands that make the Caribbean country of Trinidad & Tobago. Tobago is just over thirty kilometers away from Trinidad and it offers much more relaxing atmosphere than Trinidad. Tobago is a very attractive island known for its beautiful beaches and green landscapes. Western side of the country is famous for the white sandy beaches, while the eastern side is the home of amazingly rich and very old rainforest. Tobago`s climate is ideally warm throughout the year. May and June are usually the wettest months, while the high season is between December and April. The average year-round temperatures are close to 30 C.

The most popular and most attractive beaches in Tobago are Bucco, Pigeon Point, Englishman`s Bay, Store Bay and Canoe Bay. One of the most popular glass-bottomed boat trips which you can take is visiting the beautiful natural coral reef called Buccoo Reef on Tobago`s northern coast. Some very nice small villages you can visit include Goldsborough, Mesopotamia or Castara. Nature lovers will love Tobago`s rainforests. Hiking on the excellent hiking trails in the Tobago`s Forest Reserve offers a great experience, as the trails go through some amazingly beautiful scenery. In the Tobago Forest Reserve you can see the cascading Argyle Falls and visit the Flagstaff Hill from where you can enjoy some stunning views on Tobago`s northern coast.
Those interested in history should visit the 18th century Fort James in the town of Plymouth. This fort is located at the top of former military structures and its walls are made of limestone blocks. Fort James offers nice views over the Great Courland Bay. Fort George in the town of Scarborough is another historic place to visit, evidencing the colonial history of Tobago. It was also built in the 18th century, but it has undergone some renovations throughout the years. Today it houses the interesting Tobago Museum. In this small museum you will find an interesting collection of colonial artifacts and ancient maps, as well as some skeletons and other remains.
When it comes to events, Tobago is home to two very popular annual events. The Jazz Festival at the end of April attracts musicians from all over the world, while Tobago Heritage Festival at the end of July and beginning of August is an attractive two-week long festival. It features traditional local dances, music shows and performances, cultural happenings and food events. It is a great event when you can witness the island`s local tradition and unique way of life.
