Hautulco Holidays

Hautulco is a holiday destination area located on the Pacific Coast of Mexico, in the Oaxaca state. It stretches for around thirty kilometers and it features around forty fantastic beaches and nine lovely bays. The area of Hautulco is separated in four different districts – Tangolunda, La Crucecita, Santa Cruz and Chahue. Tangolunda is the district where most of the all-inclusive hotel resorts are located, La Crucecita is the area with residential buildings located inlands from the main beaches, Santa Cruz is the place where the main harbor is, while Chahue is the charming small area between Tangolunda and Santa Cruz.

Being located in the most southern state of Oaxaca, means that Hautulco is blessed with sunny weather all year long. Average year round temperatures are around 28 C, and the main tourist season is between December and May. Interestingly, Hautulco is mostly visited by domestic tourists and that is because the area is a bit secluded and there is limited international air access. There is just one small airport located about half an hour drive away from the all inclusive hotels in Tangolunda.

The bay of Santa Cruz is located in the center of Hautulco region. This bay is the center of most of the tourist and commercial activities and there you will find one very attractive harbor. In the area around harbor there are many restaurants, bars, discos, as well as some interesting craft shops. From the harbor you can go on boat trips, sailing excursions and snorkeling trips. Playa Santa Cruz is relatively small beach stretching for half a kilometer, but it has a powdery white sand and shallow turquoise waters.

When visiting Hautulco make sure you visit all nine bays. The best way to do it is to rent a boat or go on a guided excursion around the bays. The boat trip around all nine bays lasts for a few hours and that is an excellent way to explore all the hidden coves, attractive beaches, see interesting flora and fauna and other attractions. Four of the nine bays in Hautulco are ecological reserves where development is strictly forbidden. That means you can fully relax and admire the unspoiled natural beauty.

In general, Hautulco is one of the most laidback holiday destinations in Mexico. Numerous coves, inlets, beaches and nice areas guarantee relaxation for anyone that wish to spend their holidays here. Some places are only reachable by boat and many places offer maximum privacy. From Hautulco you can go on numerous excursions to close places, and the great city of Oaxaca is around forty minutes air flight away. Oaxaca is a really nice place to visit, with many archaeological points of interest, lively open markets, beautiful old architecture and fascinating mix of people.

Hautulco can serve as a perfect base for exploring the wider region. The beautiful rustic villages of Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido are not very far away, where you can go on a daily excursion and see the relaxing local way of life.
