Morocco Resorts

Agadir is one of the most popular Moroccan holiday destinations on the Atlantic Ocean, located on Morocco`s southern coast. The resort is well known for its fantastic long beach and the wide promenade lined up with numerous quality hotels, bars, restaurants and cafés. Agadir offers a really unique atmosphere, unlike any other place in Morocco. It has a very busy port and a laidback atmosphere typical for a seaside town. Agadir was completely rebuilt after being hit by an earthquake several decades ago, and today you will find very modern-looking suburbs, large streets in the city`s downtown and amazing buildings. A couple of main reasons why Agadir is so popular among holidaymakers are the 300 sunny days in the year and the ten-kilometer long white sandy beach on the Atlantic Ocean. There are also several other smaller beaches in close proximity to Agadir.

Agadir Weather

Agadir has a subtropical, semi-arid climate. Summers a nice and warm, while winters are usually very mild and rainy. Average summer temperatures are 26 C, while winter months have average temperatures of around 8 C.

Things to do in Agadir

There are plenty of interesting places to see in Agadir. Almost all of them can be seen and visited just by walking, but there is also a nice tourist train which circles in and around the city and takes the visitors to every major spot in Agadir. There are also some good guided tours in the town which last for about three hours. These guided tours include visit to a museum, stop at the Agadir`s main mosque, visit to the harbor to see the process of building boats and a visit to the largest souk in the region called Souk Al Had.

The mosque of Mohammed V can be found in the middle of Agadir and it is built in a very nice architectural style. The main marina of Agadir is also a very attractive spot with lots of shops and restaurants where you can sit back, relax and enjoy excellent ocean views. Valley of the Birds is an amazing bird park which you can visit. There are many exotic bird species, green fields, small lakes and places for picnic in the park. Those that want to learn more about the history of the region and learn something interesting should visit the Berber Heritage Museum located on the Ayt Souss Square. Another interesting place to visit is the so-called Garden of Portugal with its nice memorial museum. The Kasbah, or the old fortress, is a very nice historic spot with nice views on the town.

Besides great beaches, amazing architecture and interesting spots, Agadir is also home of numerous festivals and events throughout the year. One very popular festival in town is the Timitar Festival. It is held every summer and it attracts musicians and musical bands from all over the world. Other cultural events include the national break-dance championship, the International Festival of University Theatre, International Film Festival and Concert of Tolerance held every November, and the Festival of Laughter.
