One of the most beautiful of the Canary Islands, Fuerteventura Island is the perfect place to take your friends, family, loved one, or even just yourself on a little vacation, any time of the year!
The island has kilometres upon kilometres of peaceful, white, and sandy beaches to enjoy, and all of the wonderful resorts to keep you comfortable as you soak in the sweet, African air blowing into the island all-year round. Futureventura also has an incredible scenic volcanic landscape, complete with sand dunes in Corralejo, tones of local markets for food, and trinkets, as well as quite a few bars to kick back and relax in with an adult beverage or two. And all of this is added on top of the fantastic beaches located all over the island. However, perhaps one of the most endearing factors when it comes to picking Futerventura as your holiday destination is the fact that the weather is beautiful all-year-round, as it sits between 18 and 25 C on average 12 months a year.
The beaches here are endless, white, sandy paradises that line the shoreline of the island producing some of the most family friendly, and beautiful locations in Fuerteventura. One of the most popular beaches is Costa Calma's beach Barca. It is located on the Jandia peninsula and is home to some of the best wind-surfing you could possibly ask for. Or, if you prefer a more reclusive beach atmosphere, you can rent a car and pack the family in for a nice drive through the mountain and up to a little remote beach near Cofete - a beach low on people, but high on wildlife, and crashing surf.
Off of the beaches, Fuerteventura has just as much to offer tourists as it is loaded with wonderful, natural attractions, as well. Inland from the coast, you can take a drive through the rolling dunes of Parque Natural de las Dunas, in Corralejo, and you will be blown away by the raw, powerful natural beauty of the island. It is so majestic that many have compared it to the beauty of the Sahara. There are also many volcanic peaks rising up from the middle of the island in Parque Natural de Betancuria, The mix of the rolling dunes, and jagged volcanic ridges contrast and give you the unreal experience as if you are driving across a lunar surface. Over on the East side of the island, you will find the natural wonders of the limestones caves of Ajuy. These caves have served many different functions throughout history, but perhaps most notably, they were used as hiding places for pirates centuries ago.
When it comes to a more family friendly time spent on Fuerteventura Island, Acua Waterpark (located near Corralejo) cannot be overlooked. Loaded with slides, wave- and whirl-pools, kids and parents alike will have a tone of fun cooling off with all of the fun rides, and after you are all water-parked out, you can dry off by taking in 18-holes of miniature golf at the park, as well.
