Villa Dimi - Location

Villa Dimi is a luxurious and elegant stone villa located on the popular peninsula of Akrotiri in the region of Chania. The nice warm weather and the beautiful olive groves, colorful flowers, and lemon trees surrounding the villa make this place an ideal spot for relaxation all year round. The nearest beach to the villa is Kalathas, located just over one kilometer away, while the busy town of Chania is eight kilometers away. The nearest town to Villa Dimi is the small town of Kounoupidiana, about kilometer and a half away. In Kounoupidiana you will find some supermarkets, bakeries, pharmacies, banks, as well as good selection of tavernas.

The Village of Kalathas

The village of Kalathas and the entire area near Vila Dimi has developed a lot in the recent years, becoming top destination for travelers that seek quieter vacation away from the city noises of Chania. Akrotiri peninsula is not as popular as other destinations on Crete, but that gives this place a special charm as it is still not spoilt by mass tourism. It is a perfect destination for romantic couples and families with children. All beaches are easily accessible; they are very clean, wide and have soft golden sands, while sea waters are shallow and warm. All of that makes this destination ideal for families with children.

Local Beaches

Although some sections of Akrotiri coast are made of cliffs, you will still find plenty of great beaches that are sheltered from the northern summer winds. Some beaches worth exploring nearby include Kalathas, Marathi, Tersanas, Loutraki and Stavros. Stavros is famous beach as it was used as setting for the movie ‘Zorba’.

Kalathas is the closest beach to Villa Dimi, and it is a very nice beach with soft sands and shallow waters. There is one very attractive tiny island in close proximity to Kalathas beach, which you can easily reach just by swimming. Along the beach there are some palm trees that provide shade and complete the setting, adding a tropical touch to the landscape. Kalathas beach is very well organized and equipped with different amenities such as changing cabins and showers. You also have many options to try some water sports like waterskiing, windsurfing, or diving, or you can just relax and refresh yourself in some of the few restaurants located near the beach.
