Falmouth is located on the northern coast of Jamaica, about thirty kilometers away from Montego Bay. It is one of the most preserved old towns with a rich cultural heritage. Here you will find many attractive historic buildings and old churches representing the Georgian architecture. Falmouth has one Historic District dating back from the 18th century. There you can visit many charming squares, parks and houses that will take you back in time. One of the greatest sports athletes of all times – Usain Bolt also grew up just outside of Falmouth, so this town is one of the most attractive towns to visit in Jamaica.

Falmouth has a nice tropical climate, with average year-round temperature of 29 C. The temperature often rises to the mid-30s C in the summer months, so the weather is always warm.

In Falmouth you will find many local artisans and merchants selling all kinds of interesting and unique products from the region. Its streets are filled with many street vendors selling different artwork and craftwork, fabrics, paintings and other things. The Water Square located in the Historic District is the place where you will find many quality stores and shops.

You can go on many guided walking tours in the Historic District of Falmouth. St. Peter`s Anglican Church is a great representative of the traditional Georgian architecture. It dates back from the 18th century and is one of the biggest churches in Jamaica. The Courthouse and the Town Hall are also very attractive buildings to see. The Town Hall has been remodeled several years ago to look like the original Georgian style Town Hall from the 19th century, while the Courthouse used to serve as a venue for banquets and social gatherings a few centuries ago. The Barrett House, Tharp House and Pottery House are three other very attractive buildings to visit. They are all full of history, so check them out to learn more about their origins.

Falmouth can serve as a good base for exploring the wider region on the northern coast and for going on excursions. You can book a boat trip and visit the popular tourist places of Montego Bay and Ochos Rios where you will find some great beaches.

Those that want to experience a little bit of an adrenaline rush should go on a raft ride on the river Martha Brae. The waters of the river Martha Brae are very clean and clear, and you can choose between going on an adventurous or more romantic type of rafting. The raft captain will take you through some attractive areas on the river, while explaining about the Jamaica`s unique tropical flora and fauna.

Another interesting place to visit is the Good Hope Great House, located just ten minutes drive away from Falmouth. It is an old 18th century house that once was part of a plantation. It offers great views on the nearby mountains and valleys, and there you can ride horses or carriages, explore the region with all-terrain-vehicles, go on river tubing or do many other interesting things.
