Montego Bay Holidays

Montego Bay, or also known as Mo Bay, is located in the northwestern part of Jamaica. It is a very nice and popular holiday resort specifically designed to accommodate the needs of every tourist. Interesting fact is that even before it became a popular vacation spot, Montego Bay was the favorite holiday spot for the famous writer Ian Fleming. He had a villa here where he wrote his novels about the most famous agent in the world – James Bond.

Montego Bay has a nice tropical climate all year long, with average yearly temperatures near 30 C. The high tourist season is between December and April, while the hurricane season is between June and November.

What makes Montego Bay attractive are its beautiful white sandy beaches, fantastic golf courses, and the vibrant town atmosphere. In Montego Bay you will find numerous quality duty-free shops selling jewelry, crystals and leather goods. Half Moon Shopping Village is the top destination for shoppers, while on the Market Street you will find interesting handicrafts and souvenirs. Some of the top Jamaican products you can buy include batik fabrics and carved wood.

Beach lovers would love the most popular beach called Doctor`s Cave. It is a fantastic place for relaxation. The beach is nice and wide and there are many laidback bars, open-air restaurants and shops nearby. Walter Fletcher Beach is another popular beach, where you will find plenty of options for water sports. Scuba divers should head out to the Montego Bay Marine Park and check out the Airport Reef. It is an amazing reef known for its colorful coral caves, underwater tunnels and rare sea species.

Besides enjoying on the beach and trying water sports, there are numerous other activities you can do in Montego Bay. There are a few fabulous golf courses nearby, and Tryall is well known in the golf circles as one of the best golf courses you can find in the world. Gambling enthusiasts can visit the Coral Cliff casino and try their luck there, while outdoor lovers can go on a bicycle tour in the Blue Mountain and enjoy riding in the middle of spectacular scenery. For a little bit of an adrenaline visit the spooky Rose Hall plantation that used to be a home to the voodoo-witch Annie Palmer.

For family fun, visit the Dolphins Cave and take a swim with the dolphins. Children above age of eight can enjoy being pulled by the dolphins for a memorable ride. At Walter Fletcher Beach you will find the Aquasol Theme Park where whole family can enjoy many interesting rides. Another interesting free program for the kids and their families is spending a day with a local Jamaican family or in a Jamaican school. This can be arranged through the Jamaican Tourist Board and it is a really unique experience.

If you want to explore more, visit the coastal town of Lucea and see its nice old fort. Falmouth is also nearby, full of old churches and historic buildings. At night you can also go on a boat ride in the Luminous Lagoon and see some attractive fish that glow in the dark.
