There are plenty of leisure activities and sports to keep both adults and children occupied not only around the Sands Beach Resort but throughout Lanzarote.
It is perfect for a relaxing walk along its many coastal paths. It is possible to walk the 5km from Sands Beach Resort to the edge of Arrecife, the fitter ones can enjoy a more challenging but no less rewarding 9km to Puerto del Carmen.
For those of you that forgot to pack the walking boots, cycling the same routes is another good choice but there are a few occasions when you will have to divert inland to avoid the sanded beaches.
Naturally the next step up from a bike is far more unique – horse riding. There are several popular routes which can all be done in small groups under supervision from an experienced guide. Whether you have never been on a horse before or are a seasoned pro this is a fantastic way to see this beautiful island and is a truly memorable experience.
Moving on to something a little quicker is go karting, always a popular choice and Lanzarote offers one of the biggest tracks around. The 2,346 metre offering based right next to the airport near Tias caters for both the young and old alike. In fact there is even a smaller track for complete novices and young children. An exciting morning or afternoon is guaranteed.
Golfers flock to Costa Tequise for the only 18 hole course on the island, but there is a 9 hole pitch and putt course in Playa Blanca at the Hesperia Playa Dorada Hotel on the coastal promenade which is ideal for younger visitors or for individuals who have only recently taken up the game. It is also a great way for more experienced players to enhance their short game.
Sea fishing is another very popular sport and a great way to top up the tan and feel the wind in your hair. Trips run from most of the harbours around the island but ask at the hotel reception in Sands Beach Resort for up to date information. A highly relaxing day is a certainty.

Pool maintenance will take place at the Sands Beach Resort from 18th November for approximately two weeks. The routine work will consist of painting the Plaza Sol pool and will cause minimal inconvenience to our guests.
The remaining 6 adult pools and 4 child pools will be operational.
The tennis court, situated behind La Hacienda restaurant is ideal for both children and adults alike. It provides the perfect arena for a little fun or a more competitive environment if you and your playing partners are that way inclined.
Tennis racquets will be provided from reception, booking a time slot is essential to avoid disappointment particularly if you wish to play early evening when it is undoubtedly a lot cooler.
The courts and tennis facilities are popular with young children and families to. Smaller racquets for our younger guests can also be sourced from the reception area. Tennis will provide enjoyment throughout the holiday for both young and old!
Generally it is the beaches in and around Costa Teguise which offer the best conditions for Windsurfing. They are wider than most, thus more prone to winds. In particular Playa La Cucharas is popular with both the local windsurfing community and visitors.
Windsurfing is something a little more unique for children to experience. There is no better opportunity for them than at Sands Beach resort. The sea water lagoon is a perfect and safe environment for children of all ages to try their hand at windsurfing.
Working with one of the top professional windsurf schools in Lanzarote, the instructors are fluent in a number of languages. Everyone is sure to have an excellent time!
The warm clear sea's off the coast of Lanzarote are just perfect for both snorkeling and scuba diving. For those that have never done either before then snorkeling is the most natural place to begin.

The gymnasium is open from 8am to 8pm, so there is plenty of opportunity to keep to your training regime however strenuous it may seem. Situated below the Soleil bar, the gym is modern and fully equipped with the latest equipment.
Various weights and multi fitness units ensure there is something for everyone. Single day passes or access to the gym for an entire week are both available from reception.
