Saint Tropez Holidays

Saint Tropez is located in the southeastern part of France, around hundred kilometers away from Nice. It is a very popular seaside resort among the artists and other celebrities. It became very famous a few decades ago when lots of French movie stars such as Brigitte Bardot popularized the place. The town has many nice beaches and energetic nightlife.

Climate in Saint Tropez is Mediterranean with hot summers and very mild winters. July and August are the warmest months of the year with average temperatures of 27 C, while December and January are the coldest months with average temperatures of 6 C.

Saint Tropez Beaches

Saint Tropez has plenty of beautiful beaches, mainly located south of the town. Plage de Pampelonne has a five kilometer shore with plenty of nice beaches, well equipped with different tourist facilities. Many beaches have water sport facilities where you can rent power boats, canoes, try windsurfing, parasailing, scuba diving or waterskiing. Some beaches on the shore are private and some are for nudists. Best family beaches are located at Plage de Bouillabaisse, Plage des Jumeaux and Page des Graniers. They all have children playgrounds, snack bars and beach bars.

Vieux Port

Most popular place in Saint Tropez is the Vieux Port. This lively old port has lots of nice cafés and bars, and it is a main meeting point in the town. Nearby houses have beautiful light colors, and the tower of Saint Tropez church can be seen from the port. On the quay you will find several nice restaurants, boutiques and tourist shops. Place de Lices is a big square in the town, ideal for taking walks and relaxing in the evenings. There are lots of old trees surrounding the square, and the place is especially vibrant at night when nearby cafés and bars are full of people. Chapelle Sainte-Anne is a beautiful church to visit, dating from the 17th century. From the top of this church you can enjoy wonderful views over Saint Tropez. The Citadelle, dating from the 16th century sits above the town and is another nice place to visit. Inside this fortress you will find one very nice naval museum. Musée de l'Annonciade is pretty attractive museum to visit, containing art from the 20th century. Museum windows inside provide attractive views on the harbor and the town. From Saint Tropez you can also explore the wider region and go on boat trips to the other popular resorts on the French Riviera.

Festivals and Events in Saint Tropez

In Saint Tropez there are a couple of very popular events held each year. In the middle of May is the three-day festival called Les Bravades de Saint Tropez, celebrating the patron saint of Saint Tropez - Torpes of Pisa. There are parades and marching bands during the festival and many people wear traditional costumes from the region. The other popular event is Les Voiles de Saint Tropez, which is a regatta race that starts from Saint Tropez at the end of September. There are lots of attractive yachts that participate and this race attracts lots of tourists.
