Perfect for relaxing and soaking in the sun, the beach has plenty of space so you never have to worry about it being too crowded, and the surf is warm and mostly calm, perfect for family-friendly swimming and playing. Of course, there is plenty more than simple swimming available in Mastichari. It happens to be a windsurfer's paradise, as well as pedalos and catamarans for rent, and kite-boarders darting around.

If the beach is a lovely, and relaxed place you better believe that the restaurants, bars and cafes are peaceful and low-key, as well. Though, low-key does not mean boring. There is plenty of traditional Greek dancing, as well as karaoke to indulge in. Before partaking in either, you may want to enjoy one of the cafe/bars cocktails.

Mastichari Culture

Staying in Mastichari has many benefits, but one of the most exciting ones might be that it is so close to the island's capital, Kos Town, (only about a 30 min. drive) which means exceptional culinary adventures are so close by, as well as brilliant shopping excursions. Kos Town is also home to some truly remarkable historical sights for you to indulge in. One of the more intriguing sights is the plane tree at the harbour front where stories are told that Hippocrates used to teach medicine there. Also near the harbour is a Medieval castle that was built by the Knights Templar. Kos is also home to some remaining elements of Roman history that still remains, such as a bath and amphitheatre, and wonderfully restored mansions. Oh, and the night life there is a brilliant counter-point to the peaceful, low-key vibes of the fishing village.

Mastichari Weather

One of the best elements of planning a vacation trip to Mastichari is the fact that the weather is not really a factor when it comes to deciding when you and your travel companions should take the plunge. Because the temperature during the summer months usually hovers around the mid-30s (sometimes reaching as high as the 40s) and does not get much cooler than the 20s the rest of the year. On average the island gets about 300 days of sunshine a year, so chances are you are in for some fantastic weather, and plenty of sunshine no matter when you go on vacation.

So, if you are looking for a nice, peaceful vacation - with the potential to partake in lively night life and historical sights - there may be no better place in all of Kos than Mastichari.
