Often times you may hear Ibiza Island be referred to as one of Spain's main party islands, and truthfully, the place earns its reputation. Often full of parties that go on all-night long, beautiful men and women dancing having a fun time, and not to mention the hippie beach culture that sweeps through the island, it is no wonder Ibiza is such a beautiful hotspot for all those parties loving tourists looking for a nice hot place to breakout and have a ton of fun.
The island is often frequented by Europe's finest DJs, such as David Guetta, which makes it ground zero for Spanish vacationers looking to take in some of the clubbing, rave parties Spain has to offer.
Ibiza's year-round population hovers around 133,000, but during the highest points of tourist season the population bolsters to about 6-million people with all of the tourists and summer vendors. However, the island has much more to offer than just it's all-night ravers and club parties. The beautiful sun-kissed Ibiza offers an incredibly peaceful side, too. There are the quaint, rural hotels, and the beautiful northern secluded cove where you can engage in the incredible heritage of the island.
One of the sights of historical significance that tourists flock towards are the Ramparts. The gigantic protective wall circles the Dalt Vila and, at points, reaches over 25m in height, and includes about seven bastions. The walls have been rigged up with flood lights so they are lit up beautifully at night, and are truly breathtaking. The walls were originally built to protect the Ibiza residents from potential pirate attacks. As such, the walls provide amazing views overlooking the Port Area as well as south towards Formentera.
For those who want to enjoy some of Ibiza Island's night-life without spending the entire night partying, Bar 1805 cannot be more highly recommended. The back is found on a Sa Penya backstreet, tucked well back. The bar is a classic boho bar that specializes in serving the best cocktails on the island, which means there is a lot of absinthe flowing around (especially in their signature drink the Green Beast, or one of their house margaritas.) The bar is fully equipped with an outdoor terrace that provides beautiful views of the town's life. The bar also serves frites and other small snacks until close.
There is also Ibiza's most popular and contemporary sights that locals call Stonehenge. The monument is a semicircle consisting of 13 columns and was created by Andrew Rodgers, an Australian artist, and was paid for by Guy Laliberte, the founder of Cirque du Soleil. The monument is located south of Cala Codolar, and is perfect for taking in a beautiful sunset scene away from the hustle and bustle of the crowds and parties.
The walk to Stonehenge is a sight all on its own, too. You pass through ancient wooden doors that were erected as an art project and have Arabic inscriptions on them. The door frames the island of Es Vedra perfectly.
