Protaras Holidays

Protaras is a resort over on the east side of the island. This is where you will find the beautiful fig tree bay, which has a fabulous sandy beach and clear blue water.

Protaras Bars and Restaurants

Protaras itself is a lively resort during the summer, with a host of bars and restaurants all along the main strip, so it’s suitable for all ages. You’ll find all kinds of cuisine available from traditional cypriot tavernas with the popular mezes and seafood restaurants, alongside fast food, mexican, italian, chinese, indian and japanese to name but a few.

Protaras Nightlife

For the young crowd looking for something more lively, then the resort of Ayia Napa is only 12 kms away, so easily reached by taxi or bus.

Protaras Water Sports

Down at the beach you’ll find loads of water sports available. Try out some water skiing, jet skis, parasailing, banana boat, fly fishing, and various inflatables which are pulled by speed boats. Sunbeds and parasols are available for hire. If you fancy putting out to sea, there are daily boat trips available from the beachfront to Cape Greco and Famagusta.

Nearby Towns

If you want to go to a traditional Cypriot town, then you can head for Paralimni which is only a few kilometres away from Protaras. Also head for Dherinia just past Paralimni, where you can go to a lookout point, to see the ghost city of Famagusta which has been deserted since the Turkish invasion in 1974 and is now patrolled by the United Nations. You can still see the cranes and the buildings that have stood empty since then. Famagusta was once the big holiday resort on the island of Cyprus and has a wonderful golden sandy beach, but sadly it is mostly closed off these days.
