Quseir, or also known as El-Quseir and Al-Quseir, is a Red Sea coastal town located in the eastern part of Egypt. This town is one of the very few historic towns on the Red Sea coast. Quseir is a few thousand years old town, full of history. In the past it had one of the most important sea ports in this part of Egypt. Many goods coming from the Far East, such as spices and silk, came to this port and then were transported to the wider region.

On the northern side of Wami Hammamat is the goldmine settlement of Bir Umm Fawakhir, dating back from the fifth century. The biggest mine is about hundred meters long and a couple of meters high.
