Quseir Holidays

Quseir, or also known as El-Quseir and Al-Quseir, is a Red Sea coastal town located in the eastern part of Egypt. This town is one of the very few historic towns on the Red Sea coast. Quseir is a few thousand years old town, full of history. In the past it had one of the most important sea ports in this part of Egypt. Many goods coming from the Far East, such as spices and silk, came to this port and then were transported to the wider region.

Quseir's Beauty

Today Quseir is a very quiet and charming resort where you will find lots of nice, sandy beaches, clear and calm waters, and numerous coral reefs. There are also many hidden coves and beautiful bays. From a fishing village in the past, Quseir has developed into a luxurious and classy travel destination. The coral reefs and the rich sea life attract lots of scuba divers to the place. The weather in Quseir is always sunny and usually very dry. Summer nights are often very hot with average night temperatures of 25 C. The average daily summer temperatures are around 32 C. Even winters are pleasant with average daily temperatures of 22 C.

Quseir is not only a typical beach resort, but here you will also find historical monuments and buildings with British and French designs. Stone houses have nice wooden balconies and wide terraces. The town has many charming, narrow streets where you will always find interesting, traditional Egyptian bazaars. Historic part of town has lots of shops where you can buy interesting souvenirs and handmade things.

Zabargad Island

If you want to explore the region you can go to the Zabargad Island, famous for its geological activities. Near the newer part of town is the Semiramis Temple where you will see some interesting historic remains. Also visit the Peridot Hill nearby from where you will enjoy some amazing views on the town and its beautiful blue lagoons. From Quseir you can also go on a desert trip and visit some of the Bedouin settlements. Quseir hotels also have plenty of sports facilities where you can play tennis, golf, volleyball or football. Hotels also have many other things with which they keep their hotel guests entertained.

Sultan Selim Fortress

Another great thing well worth seeing in Quseir is the Sultan Selim Fortress. Sultan Selim was the Egypt ruler in the 16th century, and this fortress served as protection from the foreign invaders. In the fortress you will find a Visitors Center, where you can check out many different historic documents, artifacts and culture displays from the region.

Besides Sultan Selim Fortress, you should also visit the historic place of Wadi Hammamat. Here you will find lots of historic rock inscriptions, dating back several thousand of years ago. On the northern side of Wami Hammamat is the goldmine settlement of Bir Umm Fawakhir, dating back from the fifth century. The biggest mine is about hundred meters long and a couple of meters high. All of the buildings are open for the tourists.
