Hanioti is a little village located on the western most peninsula of Halkidiki, but do not let the size of the village fool you; there is a lot going on here.

This small village has an extremely welcoming old-fashioned, small-town feel to it, which is thanks in no small part to the picturesque winding roads that lead to a wonderful town square that is encapsulated with cafes and restaurants, as well as a beautiful centre-piece fountain. However, despite its looks, Hanioti is actually quite the modern place where you will be able to partake in all of the trappings and fun of a 21st-century vacation destination such as high-end restaurants, wonderful cafes and even large and well-stocked shopping centres. A lot of these joints can be found right on the main road that stretches on for over a mile. There are also a few lovely late-night bars and tourist-friendly gift shops dotting the main drag. Though all of these establishments are alluring and will make your visit to Hanioti more enjoyable, the best part of your stay here will no doubt be the wonderful, white-sand beach.

Hanioti Beaches

This brilliant and beautiful beach stretches out for 5 km and reaches all the way to Pefkohori. While the beach is known for having pebbles and stones along the waters edge the temperature once you get in is always warm and the bottom of the sea is smooth and clear, as if mother nature was drawing a bath for you. While spending your day relaxing, soaking in the warm Greek sun you are going to inevitably work up an appetite and you are in luck because the beach is lined with many beach bars serving up wonderful drinks and snacks. And, if the sun is beating down extra hard you can take refuge under one of the pine trees that line the beach.

When you stay in Hanioti you are also in the perfect position to take a day trip to other amazing destinations such as Thessaloniki, which is only about a 90-minute drive (though, if you do not feel like renting a car and making the trek yourself, there are also plenty of shuttle services that can take you there.)

Thessaloniki is the capital of Macedonia and is the second-largest city in Greece, and as such is is chalk full of history just ready to be seen. A day trip here can consist of exploring museums, ancient churches and historic landmarks. All of these sights help make Thessaloniki Greece's cultural capital. Needless to say, a day trip here can also be accented by incredible gastronomic experiences, or some drinks at a classic Greek cafe.
