Megalochori Beach & Wine

While Megalochori is know mostly for being beautiful wine country, there are also two smaller and relatively private beaches available for tourists to set up shop and bask in the sun on. These two beaches are located on the Caldera side of the town and are named for the main churches in the area: Plaka and Thermi. Though these are wonderful spots for spreading out a beach blanket, planting an umbrella and soaking in the sun before cooling off in the crisp, blue sea, they are not in an are accessible by car, so they will take some dedication to get to. The good news is, the churches here, as well as the postcard-like views at the beaches are more than worth the adventure it may be to get there.
