Natural Bueaty of Perivolos

Perivolos Beaches

The beach in Perivolos is one of the longest stretches of beach on all of Santorini Island, and it is bookended by beautiful vacation destinations on either end with Perissa at one, and Agio Geogios on the other end. The soft, black volcanic sand gently slopes towards the calm, crisp and crystal clean but shallow water, making it the perfect destination for a family-friendly vacations. However, the calm, and warm water is also the perfect destination for those looking to spend their vacation getting out on the water and experiencing some exciting adventures with water sports like scuba diving, snorkelling and jet skiing. There are also plenty of boat tours that can take you around Santorini Island so you can take in all of the wonderful views of the volcanic mountain ranges, and lush greenery that make up a lot of the island.

The beach is also lined with sun loungers, parasols, as well as beach umbrellas making it the perfect place to kick back and relax while spending the day soaking in the hot, Greek sun. All along the beach are bars, cafes and pubs, perfect for grabbing a bite of classic Greek fare, or a beverage or two to help fuel a long beach day.

While the beautiful beach and scenic homes and buildings are some of the main draws to Perivolos, its location on the island is also one of the main tourist attractions. Located nearly 8 km away from Perivolos is Akrotiri, which is to Santorini what Pompeii is to Italy. This excavated site is an ancient Minoan city that has long since been destroyed, but also preserved by a volcanic eruption. Visitors to Akrotiri will get to see the preserved town square, complete with street signs, and murals - all of which look like they have only recently been built and painted. There are also a lot of utensils preserved that were dropped by the residents as they fled the giant ash cloud nearly 3,000 years ago.
