Everyone knows of the saying "good things come in small packages" well, Aghia Paraskevi, Skiathos, is truly natures embodiment of this age-old saying.

This small, but absolutely perfectly formed village remains an unspoiled paradise for tourists from all over the globe as it has slowly become one of the most popular beach vacation destinations in all of Skiathos. Located on the beach-laden southern coast of Skiathos, Aghia Paraskevi is the perfect destination for those groups of tourists looking for a wonderful vacation full of classic Greek cuisine, picturesque beaches, and the kind of slow-paced lifestyle that is only possible while on vacation is a sunny, warm environment.

One of the main highlights of Aghia Paraskevi is the brilliantly stunning Platanias Beach, which stretches on for over 600 m and connects Kolios Beach on its far eastern end with Aghia Paraskevi on its furthest western point. This stretch of beach is highly regarded for being a beautiful stretch of family-friendly beach fun. Thanks to the shallow water levels in the surrounding sea, as well as the many shaded areas (thanks to a lush, and green tree line surrounding the beach.) However, Platanias Beach is also the ideal location for those looking to have a little bit of adventure on their vacation to head, as it is home to many water sports. Some of the activities travellers can partake in on the beach are knee-boarding, snorkelling, and scuba diving. However, if you think you are up for some fun on water, instead of under it, there are also plenty of boat tours available that make for great afternoon excursions.

When it comes to spending the day on the beach, you do not have to worry about travelling too far when nature calls and your stomach starts to grumble. Located near the eastern end of the beach are plenty of ice cream huts, snack bars and restaurants. Which means you can spend nearly your entire vacation just bathing in the hot, Greek sun, or wading around in the warm, shallow waters.

Aghia Paraskevi Culture

While life in Aghia Paraskevi is lived a snails pace, that does not mean that there is not much to do (besides spend time on the wonderful beach) when you visit the village. In fact, it is quite the opposite. Despite the slow pace, there is much to take in while visiting, such as the local architecture (perfectly summed up by some of the old, but still bright, and beautiful churches that are dotted around the village,) as well as taking in some of local cuisine at any one of the numerous restaurants or taverns. However, if you are truly in need of a wild night out while on vacation, you are still in luck, as within a short walking distance you will find Platanias, which is a much busier town where you will find a few more exciting bars, and a little more night life to quench your thirst.

When visiting Aghia Paraskevi you are pretty much guaranteed to enjoy some brilliant weather, as the summer temperatures usually stay within the 30s, and the winter temperatures only fall down to the mid-20s.
