Megali Beaches

The immensely popular soft, sandy beach is a sand-and-shingle beach and though it may be a little more narrow than other beaches on Skiathos Island, but it stretches out for over 2 km. The water here is warm, and shallow making it the perfect destination for a family-friendly beach vacation. The beach is also full of sun loungers, as well as beach umbrellas making it the perfect destination for relaxing by the seaside and spending the day basking in the warm sun before cooling off in the sea.

The beach is also lined with numerous bars and restaurants, so that a quick bite to eat, or an adult beverage is never too far away. If you are travelling with a loved one, and are maybe looking for a little more of a secluded, romantic spot, you and your loved one can head to the eastern side of the beach, where you will come across a large rock bed which provides a wonderfully secluded area, perfect for taking in the beautiful beach scenery with limited amounts of other beach goers.

The water at Megali is not only the perfect destination for beach-side lounging and recreational swimming, it is also the home for many water sports, as well. With such wonderfully clear, and warm water there are plenty of opportunities for scuba diving, snorkeling and even jet skiing.

Megali Weather

With the magnificent weather that Skiathos Island is blessed with, you never have to worry about what time of the year you plan your visit to Megali. Because the temperature during the summer months usually averages in the 30s, making it the perfect weather for enjoying the wonderful beach. However, once the fall, winter months come, the temperature drops only slightly, and hovers around the 20s.
