With buses taking off down the coastal road from Platanias to Skiathos Town every 15 to 20 min., it is one of the easiest, and best day trips tourists can take, and all without having to spend the money on renting a car.

While in Skiathos Town, visitors can enjoy basking in the more trendy, and modern town with all of its gastronomically challenging restaurants, lively bars and traditional Greek cafes that are set up along the beautiful and historic harbour front, complete with remnants of old Venetian fortifications.

Another day trip that is worth taking from Platanias , especially for those who are interested in the rich history of Greece, is the 10 min. drive to check out the Evangelistria Monastery, which is the place where the modern Greek flag was first raised by a group of nationalist revolutionaries back in 1807.
