Florence is easily walkable city and the best thing to do is to wander the streets and explore. The city streets are among the oldest on the continent and there is always something interesting going on. When you reach the Arno River, go over Ponte Vecchio and you will find the newer area of the city called Oltrarno. If you want to take a break from museums and galleries go to the beautiful Boboli Gardens. Piazzale Michelangelo is another fantastic spot that offers great views on Florence. Follow the walking trail and see the beautiful church of San Miniato al Monte located at a top of a nearby hill. Views from there are breathtaking and the scenery is amazing.
A short drive away from Florence is Fiesole. Fiesole is located on the hills above Florence and from there you can enjoy watching great sunsets over the city. There you will also find a small museum and an amphitheater located on ancient Roman ruins. From Florence you can also go on numerous attractive daily excursions that lead to the towns of Arezzo, San Gimignano, Siena, Pisa and the beautiful wine region of Chianti.
