Qawra is a small little resort town that benefits from having the beautiful St. Paul's Bay as its scenic backdrop. However, do not let the descriptive use of the word small fool you, after all, they say good things come in small packages - and when it comes to Qawra, this saying most definitely rings true. Though a lot of beaches in Malta are rocky, rather than soft and sandy, there is a Blue Flag level beach at the North most point of St. Paul's Bay, Qawra Point. With its picturesque views, and incredible natural scenery it is no surprise that this beach is an absolute hot spot for tourists and even some locals during the summer months. Not only is it perfect for soaking in the scenery, the warm waters lovely for swimming, as well as waterskiing, jet skiing and even scuba diving excursions for those who feel they have a little more than venture in them. Of course, there also send loungers for rent if you much rather sit on the beach and enjoy looking at the water rather than being right in it. There are also many bars and restaurants scattered along the beach side. If you rather not fight for a spot on the sometimes very busy beach, will still be able to dangle your feet in the water and enjoy the hot side as Qawra has many lidos with pools that make the perfect alternative.

Qawra's location is also perfect to go out on a few different day trips. One of the most enriching of these is a trip to Malta's old capital Mdina. This absolutely gorgeous medieval city was built out of golden stones and features of wonderful baroque cathedral that serves as the pièce de résistance of the town. Tourists can also climb the walls that encircled the town and get a wonderful view of the entire island. Of course, there also a lot of narrow and winding alleys and piazzas to navigate and investigate. The perfect counterpoint to the busy beaches of Qawra, spending a day in Mdina will leave you with no doubts why they called the old capital the Silent City.
