Tucked away on the eastern coast of Malta, St. Julian's has grown into quite the bustling little town over the past couple of years. The little town that is broken into four unique districts (all within easy walking distance of each other) is on its way to fully blossoming into a premier travel destination for those looking for a little slice of everything Malta has to offer.

Divided among the four districts, visitors can indulge in wonderful, authentic Maltese culinary dishes in one of the many waterfront dining spots in Spinola Bay, and after dinner soak in some of the wild, and wonderful night life in Paceville, which is one of the most lively areas on all of the island. Of course, there are also fantastic shopping adventures to be had, and even a fair sized patch of sandy beach, which is ideal compared to the normal rocky Malta shorelines.

Since Malta is not known for having vast, sandy beaches the Blue Flag quality sandy beach in St. George's Bay is a wonderful surprise and an absolute treasure on the island, the beach is also only a mere 10 min. walk from Spinola Bay. However, the beach is a massive hit with locals and tourist alike, so it is known to get rather jam packed pretty quickly, especially come the weekends during the summer, so if you are thinking of spending an afternoon lounged out on the beautiful, warm sand, make sure to get a move on relatively early in the day to stake out your claim. Of course, if you do not feel like waking super early to stake out a spot on the sandy beach, St. Julian's is full of lidos, which (for small fee) provide you with the same feeling of lounging by the surf as they provide sun-loungers spread around pool sides. A few even offer beverage and snack options to make the time in the sun and water even more enjoyable.

If quaint bars, and poolside lounging sounds just fine, but you feel you may want a little more culture on your vacation, there is no need to reconsider your trip to St. Julian's. The lovely little town is the perfect place to set up a home base before spreading out on day trips to other places around the island, such as the capital, Valletta, which is just about a 20 min. drive down the coastline (there are buses heading to and from the capital all day long, as well as car rentals available.) Valletta has UNESCO status, and once you arrive it is so easy to see why as you explore the magnificent Grand Master's Palace, which now serves partially as an armoury museum. There is also the town's 16th-century cathedral with its high-vaulted ceiling and mosaic tiled floor. And if you are partial to breathtaking, picturesque views (who isn't?), you will definitely want to take in the view looking out from the Upper Barrakka Garden as it gazes across at the Medieval harbour.
