El Cable Holidays

El Cable is an urban area of mostly residential homes in some small resorts located in Lanzarote. This is a place where many people settle in their retirement age or come for a nice week or weekend away to get some true peace and quiet. With sprawling boardwalks as well as beautiful beaches across the entire area, El Cable is perhaps best known for its large selection of gated communities as well as the marina area which plays host to some of the largest yachts, sailing vessels and pleasure craft in the area.

El Cable Boating

If you own a boat this is definitely one of the best places in the area for you to enjoy a dockside home or to have a rental with full access to boating or yacht rentals throughout the duration of your stay. Another very popular activity throughout the marina is rowing. You can often see athletes honing their skills in large-scale Dragon boats and competition rowing boats. Some of the best Olympic teams in the world often come to this area to practice in the marina because of its calm currents and the favorable weather year-round. The Marina Colon is an excellent place to take a boat out in the morning for a bit of exploring or to take in the sunset on the beach.

It is important to note that the waves at El Cable beach do often grow a little bit higher in the afternoon when the wind begins to pick up. Larger waves make for more difficult growing and this is why many of the teams often practice in the early morning hours. If you are planning on taking out a boat or taking a cruise you should consider making an early start.

El Cable Attractions

There are many close attractions to El Cable and the beach if you are interested in venturing out of the water and the surf. Visiting the Las Chucharas mall close by can be an excellent way that you can get your hands on some beautiful souvenirs for your trip. The produce mart and craft market are open from 11 AM to 4:00 PM on every Thursday. Here you can find some local artisan crafts as well as fresh produce.

El Cable Arts & Culture

If you are interested in examining some of the local art you should check out the Cesar Manrique foundation which is home to historical architecture as well as a large-scale art collection from some of the most famous artists from this area. This museum often draws an international crowd and the exhibits change over almost every year giving you a different flavor of what art in El Cable and architectural history is all about.

The Saint Gabriel Castle

The Saint Gabriel Castle also makes for a wonderful day trip away. This 16th century castle was built to defend the coast of this area. Having fallen under siege by pirates several times this historical site has been completely rebuilt and now is the location of a world renowned archaeological Museum.

El Cable is truly an area with something for everyone. Whether you are interested in taking up rowing, enjoying the beach or examining the history of the area El Cable is an exclusive and beautiful place to stay.
