Pomorie has a pleasant weather between May and September, with average temperatures of 24 C. Winter months are relatively mild and rainy, while autumn season is also pleasant for sightseeing tours.

Pomorie Sightseeing

There are many interesting things to see in Pomorie. Pomorie Lake is just a couple of kilometers north from the center of the town. The mud from the lake is used for wellness treatments and the area around the lake is a home to many endangered bird species. In the Visitors Center you can learn more about the wildlife around the lake and other interesting facts. West of Pomorie is the Antique Beehive Tomb dating from the third century. This fascinating structure is made of bricks and stones and it has one long corridor. The shape and the construction of this Tomb is very interesting to see. Old Houses of Pomorie are very attractive constructions. These 19th century houses represent the typical Bulgarian houses. They are all private and you cannot access them freely, but you can admire and take pictures from the outside.

Interesting churches to see in Pomorie are the St. George Monastery, Church of the Transfiguration of God and The Church Birth of the Virgin Mary. St. George Monastery dates back from the Byzantine period, but it was reconstructed in the 19th century. This is a male monastery where females are not permitted to enter. Church of the Transfiguration of God is the oldest church, dating from the 18th century, while The Church Birth of the Virgin Mary was built over a century ago. Historical Museum and the Salt Museum are two very attractive museums to visit and get familiar with the process of salt production. There are lots of tools, photos and interesting maps inside the museums.

Pomorie in August

In the month of August there are lots of dance, musical and theatrical performances going on in Pomorie. There are also many wine tasting events and wine bazaars where you can buy local wines. Celebrations and festivities usually go for the whole month, so there is always something interesting going on in Pomorie.
