Cabarete Holidays

Cabarete is a beautiful small village located on the northern side of the Dominican Republic. Up until a few decades ago this village was non-existent, but thanks to its great features it grew into a nice laidback beach village with plenty of things to offer.

Located about twenty minutes away from the closest airport in Puerto Plata and is well known as one of the best vacation spots in the country. The warm, calm turquoise waters and the eastern trade winds make this spot ideal for kitesurfing and windsurfing. Even if these sports are not so appealing to you, you will definitely enjoy the sight of plenty of colorful kites and sails in Cabarete Bay. There are many other options available here, ranging from biking and golfing to horseback riding and scuba diving.

Cabarete has a tropical climate, which means nice warm weather all year long. Average annual temperature is perfect 25 C, which goes up and down a couple of degrees depending on the season. The warmest months of the year are between May and October with temperatures often rising around 30 C. From December until March is just a little bit cooler with average 27 C. Only the nights during this period can be a little bit chilly with temperatures between 5 C and 10 C.

Cabarete village is located in the middle of a beautiful beach in semi-circular shape. Sand is nice and soft, while the waters are shallow and warm. Behind the village there is one very nice lagoon which is backed by picturesque verdant hills filled with attractive tropical vegetation. This beautiful setting attracts lots of tourists from all over the world, especially water sports lovers. Cabarete Bay is the place where many professional competitions in kitesurfing are held – the World Cup and Master of the Ocean competitions are both very popular events. Also near Cabarete is the very popular beach Playa Encuentro which is famous for being one of the best places for surfing in the Caribbean. It is located just five kilometers west of Cabarete.

Due to the fact that Cabarete attracts many young water sport enthusiasts from all over the world, the nightlife in the village is very rich. There are many bars, restaurants, discotheques, cafés and you can even try your luck in a casino. The center of the village is filled with live music bars, and sometimes they organize karaoke nights and dancing nights with the beautiful sounds of merengue, salsa and bachata. The party goes on from dusk till dawn, and there are some pretty nice romantic restaurants as well. Candlelit dinners by the bay or sipping cocktails while watching the amazing sunsets is what attracts many couples to this place.

Cabarete is a great place for those seeking a great spot for windsurfing and kitesurfing, and for those seeking a good nighttime entertainment. It can also serve as a good base for exploring the wider area or for just relaxing and enjoying the sea and sun.
