Located a few kilometres past Sissi, the sometimes sleepy village of Milatos is only about 1 km from the beautiful coast, but Paralia Milatos (also known as Milatos Beach) is a beautiful, and low-key family-friendly resort that is perfect for hosting your vacation full of wonderful weather, beautiful scenery, as well as peace and quiet.

Part of what makes the resort in Milatos such a low-key establishment is that it is a little further from the main roads than a lot of other popular Crete Island resorts, and, also unlike a lot of those other more popular resorts, Milatos does not have as many well developed beaches on site.

Beauty of Milatos

Part of the allure of staying in Milatos is the beautiful and sometimes exhilarating drive to the resort. You can take a shuttle to the resort, but the best way to make it to Milatos is by renting a car and really making the most out of the picturesque drive through Crete, as you will dart down small, winding roads. Also, by driving yourself, you set up the perfect means to make detours in some of the places you will be passing, such as Epano Sissi and even Vrahassi and Neapoli. If you are feeling truly adventurous there is even a dirt road that connects Sissi to Milatos Beach.

While fish is going to be the main food dominating the menus of nearly every restaurant here, your adventurous with the animals does not have to be limited to filling your belly with them. For those who want to take their try at some of the brilliant Crete Island fishing, Milatos is the perfect spot for dropping a line in off of the harbour, or even venturing a little further out and finding a perfect little fishing hole.

While the beach is small, and pebble covered there is a nice patch of sandy beach located right by the fishing harbour, and is perfect for relaxing on and enjoying the nice, warm surf.

If you are looking for a lovely Greek island vacation that is less hustle and bustle than the average trip, Milatos might be just the right place for you. And, like a lot of Greece, you do not have to spend too much time worrying over the calendar in order to find the best time of year to visit. Thanks to the lovely Mediterranean weather that the Greek islands are blessed with, you will be able to have a full, and delightful trip no matter what time of the year you are able to take off in. During the summer months the temperatures tend to stick around the 30 territory, but can sometimes jump into the mid-40s, which will definitely send you running to the warm water for a quick cool down. However, if you can only make it in the winter months you are still in luck, because the temperature still stays nice and warm, usually around the mid-20s - perfect for exploring, and still taking a dip in the water.
