Kolymbia is a very small, but attractive village located on the eastern coast of Rhodes Island. It is around twenty kilometers away from the capital Rhodes Town, and it is a perfect resort for spending a quiet family holiday. Most of the activities in Kolymbia are centered on the hotels, and this resort is best known for the modern all-inclusive hotel complexes that provide everything for their guests. Unlike other close resorts that constantly grow and expand, Kolymbia has kept its original low-profile look and has not grown that much over the years. However, you will find a few new facilities, bars and restaurants in the village.

Kolymbia has a hot and sunny weather between May and September, almost without any rainfall. The average summer temperatures are around 30 C, while the sea temperature is the highest in the month of August with average 25 C. Spring and autumn months are ideally warm for going on sightseeing tours in the region.

Kolymbia has a very nice green landscape. The road that leads into Kolymbia is called Eucalyptus Road and there is beautiful lush green scenery along the road. The village of Kolymbia was built a long time ago by the Italians and was initially a farm village. Today it is a discreet resort with one of the best beaches on Rhodes Island. There are not too many options in Kolymbia as in the other larger resorts on the island, but there is a fair share of shops and restaurants. There are also some quality fish tavernas where you can enjoy eating fresh fish caught during the day.

Regarding Kolymbia`s beach, it is never crowded even in the peak of the summer season. It is awarded with Blue Flag for quality, and on the beach you can take part in some of the numerous water sports, or hire sunbeds and umbrellas and enjoy sunbathing. The beach is right bellow the Eucalyptus Road and it stretches for over one kilometer. It is made of pebble and sand, while the waters are exceptionally clear. The beach is ideal for snorkeling, and five minutes away from the beach you will find a secluded, discreet rocky cove where you can explore the marine life.

Starting from Kolymbia you can explore the entire eastern coast of Rhodes by boat. There are some smaller islands nearby that you should visit. Picturesque island of Symi is ideal to visit and see some of its hidden monasteries and small churches. If you are more interested in more luxurious cruising in the sea waters, you can rent a yacht and visit the Charaki Bay or St. Paul`s Bay where you will find some perfect spots for snorkeling. Town of Lindos is another attractive place to visit and admire the beautiful architecture. It is just a half an hour drive away. There you can also visit the old temple of Athena and see the ancient Doric columns and ruins. From there you can enjoy some fantastic 360 degree views on the Rhodes Island.
