Tourlos Holidays

Tourlos is a tiny little village located just a couple of kilometers to the north of the capital Mykonos Town. It has a very laid-back atmosphere and a very clean, sandy beach. There are not many activities going on in Tourlos, so the place is ideal for spending a very quiet vacation. It can also serve as a good base for exploring the island. Tourlos is the place where the new port of Mykonos Town is built. The village is constantly developing and today there are many quality hotels nearby, some tavernas and charming cafés with nice sea views. Despite its development, this village has retained its peaceful feel and old charm. Today it mostly attracts families and couples that look to spend a quiet, relaxing vacation.

Tourlos Weather

Tourlos has a typical Mediterranean climate with hot summers and mild winters. July and August are the hottest and busiest months of the year. Average summer temperatures are around 30 C, while winters are also pleasant for taking walks and soaking up the sun.

Tourlos Beach

The beach in Tourlos does not have any water sport facilities on it, so it is ideal for spending a lazy day sunbathing and swimming in the sea. The beach is never crowded and late afternoons are perfect for watching splendid sunsets. If you want to take part in some water sports, you can visit the close Agios Stefanos Beach located just five to ten minutes walk away. Evenings in Tourlos are very nice and relaxed. You can take a stroll on the beachfront or enjoy a meal in a local taverna. Sometimes there are some music nights organized in the cafés, but usually everything gets quiet before midnight. Those interested in nightclubs and bars can head out to the Mykonos Town. There are plenty of local buses and taxis that can take you everywhere you want on the island. Mykonos airport is five minutes car drive away, and there are plenty of options for renting cars, bicycles and motorbikes. The bus system also functions very well and the taxi services are very affordable.

Tourlos Harbor

Tourlos has a very nice harbor where many yachts, ferry boats and cruise ships come and go all the time. From there you can take an excursion around Mykonos Island. Tourlos is also a great option for those that want to have their motor boats, private yachts or fishing boats docked away from the crowded ports. You can also rent a boat and enjoy cruising in the sea. If you take a walk around Tourlos you will see many luxury villas, mansions and interesting houses. This place has also attracted some celebrities to build their houses here, as it is away from the crowds and it offers maximum privacy and protection from curious looks. There is also nice scenery with green woods and beautiful flowers everywhere in the village.

In Tourlos you should not miss a visit to the small St. George Spilianos chapel. It is located on the northern side of the harbor and is built inside a cavity of a large rock.
