Laganas is the most popular travel destination on Zakynthos Island. It is also the largest and most energetic resort on the island. Laganas is located on the southwestern side of Zakynthos and is less than ten kilometers away from the capital Zakynthos Town. Laganas is a top destination for younger generations that seek partying and non-stop fun, but it also attracts fair share of families as well.

Laganas has a beautiful weather all year long, with average temperatures in the upper 20s C. Summer months often have temperatures in the upper 30s C, while winter season is very mild and relatively warm.

Laganas Facilities

The main road in Laganas is lined up with lots of bars, pubs, restaurants, souvenir shops and tourist shops. Here you will find plenty of luxurious hotel resorts with large swimming pools and fancy restaurants. Along the main road there are plenty of Greek and international restaurants. You will also find Mexican, Chinese, Italian and English restaurants. Besides restaurants there are plenty of fast food chains and grill houses as well.

Laganas Culture

Laganas used to be a quiet fishing village a couple of decades ago, but today is one of the most attractive and vibrant resorts not just on Zakynthos, but in whole Greece. Laganas nightlife can be even compared to Ibiza`s nightlife. The main street stretches for over one kilometer and there you will find over fifty nightclubs and music bars, karaoke bars, cocktail bars and lively pubs. Many famous DJs often have summer sets in the nightclubs here, and the party never stops.

In Laganas you will feel amused all the time with a wide selection of restaurants, clubs, pubs, tavernas, bars, stores, and lots of different shops. The beach is fantastic, stretching to over nine kilometers. Waters are very clear and shallow, and despite attracting large groups of tourists it does not look overcrowded. There are plenty of sunbeds, sun-loungers and umbrellas for rent, as well as kiosks, canteens, changing cabins and showers on the beach. Laganas Beach is protected by the Greek law and is part of a National Park. There are plenty of facilities for water sports, but power water sports are forbidden for protection of marine life. Along the beach you will find some great beach bars, seaside tavernas and snack bars where you can relax and enjoy amazing sea views. Just opposite from the Laganas Beach is the very nice islet of Agios Sostis. You can visit it by going over a wooden bridge. From Laganas you can take a boat trip and visit Marathonissi Island, where you can enjoy sunbathing on beautiful beaches and swimming in turquoise waters.

In general, Laganas is a perfect destination for those that seek fun and entertainment. If you look for spending quiet holiday it would be better to look elsewhere. Laganas is about partying, having a good time, and meeting people from all over the world. The beach is very long and there are plenty of families that come here as well, but Laganas primarily attracts young groups of tourists.
