Santa Monica Beaches

Though the walk abilities a key feature of Santa Monica, the public transit makes the town incredibly accessible and easy to get around without having to rent a car.

Santa Monica Promenade

One of the most popular neighborhoods in all of Santa Monica is a downtown third Street Promenade area. Located a few blocks east of the pier, this neighborhood is a premier destination for locals, and visitors who are looking for a shopping excursion for everything ranging from designer clothes to home decor. There is even a local artisan coffee and handcrafted cuisine to indulge in. The renowned open air, pedestrian-only Third Street Promenade is home to some of the best people watching in the entire state. The city also runs plenty of outdoor events such as movie screenings, and a farmers market.

Dining in Santa Monica

This neighborhood is also home to some of the best culinary adventures Santa Monica has to offer. At The Misfit bar, one of the areas most popular themed bars, the roaring '20s are back in style in both the decor and the cocktails they serve. There is also the Ye Olde King's Head, which is perfect for ordering up some fresh cod and chips, all while taking in the Premier league soccer game at this old English style pub.

Santa Monica Pier

Of course, maybe the most iconic images Santa Monica is the Ferris wheel just off of the Santa Monica pier. This staple of the picturesque beachfront community has become one in the same with Santa Monica, and thus is one of the most beautiful, and historically important sites that one can see when visiting Santa Monica.

The Pier was constructed in 1909, and was the first concrete pier on the entire West Coast. This area quickly earned a reputation as being one of the best fishing spots in all Santa Monica. A lot of areas now marked as a national historic landmark including the lovely carousel that was opened in 1916.

Pacific Park

The family-friendly Pacific Park was named by Yahoo! Travel as California's best amusement park. The park features a roller coaster that peaks at 55 feet above the Pacific Ocean, this allows Midway games, food and shopping. Thanks to the beautiful weather Santa Monica has all year round, the amusement park is open 12 months a year - though the hours to vary depending on season.
