Treasure Island is a part of Tampa Bay region, situated between St.Pete Beach on its northern side and Madeira Beach on its south side. Florida`s Gulf Coast is a very attractive holiday destination, and Treasure Island attracts thousands of tourists each year. It is a lively and busy resort, with families being the most frequent visitors. It offers a laid back and relaxing atmosphere and it has a retro, old Florida look. In the month of May, the Mad Beach Triathlon athletic competition takes place in Madeira Beach. Treasure Island is connected to the nearby Madeira Beach on its southern side. Madeira Beach has fewer motels and hotels, but more private beach houses and other apartment complexes. This place is more attractive for the younger tourists and couples, but fair share of families also come here.
Beaches in the area are all wide and with very good quality. There are numerous water sport facilities, parasols and sunbeds on offer. Some spots on the beach have lifeguards during the highest tourist season. There are plenty of parking spots around the beaches and the hourly charge for parking is fairly low.
There are lots of bars, restaurants and shops for any taste, and the John`s Pass Village is definitely a place to visit. It is a very popular complex beside the ocean where you will find over one hundred different shops and restaurants, and there is one nice promenade overlooking the resort`s marina. In the autumn season the annual Festival of Seafood takes place here, when you can taste delicious seafood coming from over thirty restaurants from the region. The nightlife is also good, although not that wild, and is mainly centered on dozen popular music bars that work late at night.
