New York City has mostly humid continental climate. July is usually the warmest month of the year with average temperatures of 25 C. January and February are the coldest months of the year with average temperatures around 2 C. Autumn season is also very pleasant in the whole state when leafs change colors unlike in any other place in the USA.

Attractions in New York City

There are so many things to see, it is impossible to explore whole New York in just one trip. Traditionally, Manhattan is one of the most attractive areas in the city. It is the financial and business center of the world. Here you can visit the world famous Wall Street or the biggest stock exchange in the world – NYSE. The Federal Hall is another historic spot, known as the place of inauguration of George Washington as first US President. Statue of Liberty is a remarkable landmark of New York, located in lower Manhattan. It proudly stands on a tiny island in the city`s harbor and is definitely a must visit place. Lower Manhattan is connected with Brooklyn with the famous Brooklyn Bridge, where you can enjoy some fantastic sights on Brooklyn and Manhattan skylines.

Empire State Building

Empire State Building is another great landmark, located in Midtown. It dominates the New York skyline and also offers great views on the whole city. Midtown is also a well known place for the shoppers, with thousands of department stores, classy boutiques and fancy shops. The Fifth Avenue is the most famous street located in Midtown. Rockefeller Plaza is another place worth seeing, and this place is especially popular before Christmas when the most famous Christmas tree and the lights dominate this part of New York. Rockefeller Plaza also has a charming skating rink and it is a home of the Radio City Music Hall and the NBC Studios. Flashy Times Square should not be missed with its huge flat screens and non-stop flashing signs. Close nearby is the huge Central Park, where you can relax and spend a whole day admiring the beautiful nature.

New York City is also a big cultural center, where you can attend numerous Broadway shows. If you are a sports fan then you can visit the venues of numerous professional sports teams located here. If you are interested in something else besides visiting major landmarks, you can take a tour on the hilly terrains of Adirondacks and Catskills where you will find some perfect camping spots and hiking trails. New York is also a home of many waterways such as the Hudson River or the Lake Ontario. You can also join in numerous wine tours leading to Finger Lakes, which is a beautiful wine region with hundreds of wineries.
