Moraitika Holidays

Moraitika is a very lively and attractive holiday resort in the south part of Corfu Island. Messonghi River serves as a natural boundary between Moraitika and Messonghi. Moraitika is just around twenty kilometers away from Corfu Town, and from here you can take lots of trips to nearby places. Just like the other close resorts, Moraitika has a very nice, pleasantly warm weather in May and June, while July and August are the warmest months with average temperatures in the mid 30s C.

Moraitika's Main Street

Moraitika`s main street is filled with restaurants, bars and shops, stretching to around one kilometer up to the river. The nearby hill at the end of the village called Ano Moraitika is a home of the older part of the village. Here you will see many small, narrow charming streets decorated with flowers and trees, as well as traditional small houses. Further up on the hill you will find the popular Church of Theotokou Kimiseos which has a very nice bell tower. From this place you can enjoy some very pretty views on the Moraitika coast.

Moraitika Beaches

Moraitika has one great beach, stretching for a few kilometers. There are plenty of water sport facilities, and there are some diving centers where you can go and learn the secrets of diving. If you want to take a daily excursion, you can go to the close beach in Aghios Ioannis. It is a small, but nice place where you can unwind and relax. Close nearby Moraitika there are remains of ancient Roman baths, well worth seeing for those that want to visit a historic place. There are also a few old churches in Moraitika devoted to different patron saints, and in the summer there are some open air festivals attracting tourists from the wider area.

Moraitika used to be a tiny and quiet town, but in the recent years it had developed a lot and it became very attractive. The nightlife here is very rich, with plenty of bars, discotheques, nightclubs and pubs offering different music programs for any taste.

Fishing & Boat Trips

The river that separates Moraitika and Messonghi is also an attraction, where you can go fishing or take a daily boat trip. Nearby the beach there are lots of tavernas, fast food outlets and bars where you can sit and relax, or make friends with the locals and other tourists. Fresh fish specialties are constantly on offer, but there are many other tasty cuisines to try as well. In the center of Moraitika you can find many nice bargain shops, modern boutiques, pharmacies, doctor`s offices, tourist offices and car/bike rentals. Most of the bigger markets are located here, together with the lively discos and tavernas.

Moraitika is a very nice place for spending a classic tourist holiday. It offers something for everyone, whether it is families, couples or young groups. There are many places in close proximity that can be easily reached by foot or by taking a short bus ride, so Moraitika is also a good base for traveling around the region.
