Sidari is located on the northwestern side of Corfu Island and is a very attractive and popular beach resort. It is just over forty kilometers north of the capital Corfu Town and close to Roda village. Sidari is well connected with other villages and resorts with regular bus lines that go every hour. In the past Sidari used to be a simple fishing village, but it had developed a lot in the last couple of decades. Today it is full of hotels, apartments, studios and houses for rent, and Sidari became one of the busiest and liveliest villages on Corfu Island. In the summer months the place gets very crowded mainly with British tourists, but its capacity is pretty big and can take lots of tourists without feeling that is overcrowded.
When it comes to weather, summers in Sidari are pleasantly warm. Average temperatures in July are around 25 C, while the sea water temperature is highest in August with average temperatures in the mid 20s C. November is the month with most rainfall.
There are three major beaches in Sidari. The main beach is located on the eastern part of the harbor and it is sandy and soft. There you will find lots of water sports facilities for parasailing, jet skiing, riding banana boats, scuba diving or boat pedaling.
Inside the village you will find lots of bars, pubs, cafés and tavernas, and one very popular and well equipped water park. Sidari has a rich nightlife and several nightclubs. There are all kinds of entertainment including live music and dancing shows, karaoke nights or bingo nights. There are lots of bars and restaurants that serve traditional British meals and drinks. The pubs are equipped with big screen TVs and there is a very lively atmosphere inside them during major sporting events.
Sidari is well known place for its so-called Canal D`Amour or the `Channel of Love`. It is located on the western side of the resort and the legend says that those that swim in this channel will find true love and romance. The coastline around Canal D`Amour is very attractive due to its very nice sandstone formations, which get sculpted by the waves and winds over the years. The beach coves here are amazing and all have different formations. Beach coves have shallow waters and nice, dark sand. They are all very well protected by the cliffs behind. Due to the fact that beaches are very small and narrow, they usually get crowded very fast in the summer months. The best places for swimming in Sidari are in Melitsa, Apotripiti and Canal D`Amour.
In Sidari there are no significant historical or cultural spots to be visited, but this village is mainly for those that look to spend a classic holiday by mainly laying on the beach, swimming and having fun in bars and pubs. Those that want to explore can join in some of the boat excursions that go from here around the island, or take a bus to the nearby places.
