Fiscardo Holidays

Fiscardo is a small, but very picturesque fishing village located on the northern coast of Kefalonia. It is around fifty kilometers away from the capital city of Argostoli. Fiscardo coastline is mostly rocky, and most of the beaches are with pebbles. The surrounding area around Fiscardo is made of dense green forest, and it has been declared as an area of national interest. Fiscardo has a very lively harbor, and from there numerous routes go towards islands of Ithaca and Lefkada. Although fairly small, Fiscardo has developed a lot over the years and today tourism overtook fishing as the main industry of the village. You will find lots of luxury villas, hotels and other accommodation in and around Fiscardo, and yet it still does not feel overcrowded.

Fiscardo has a nice Mediterranean climate with hot summers and mild winters. July and August have average temperatures of around 30 C, and the summer nights are also pleasant with average temperatures of 20 C. January is the wettest month of the year, but even in winter the temperatures rarely drop below 10 C.

Activities around Fiscardo

The main activities in Fiscardo revolve around its beautiful harbor. There you can sit back and enjoy very nice views on the neighboring island of Ithaca. Fiscardo has a very warm, friendly, and cosmopolitan atmosphere. The village is unique in a way that it was the only village that survived the devastating earthquake that hit Kefalonia back in 1953. Fiscardo kept and preserved its original houses and buildings, and today it still has a traditional Greek charm. Despite of the rapid development of tourism, in Fiscardo you will still see beautiful Venetian houses and buildings with very nice bright colors. It is a very popular tourist destination for people of all ages, and mostly attracts those interested in experiencing a traditional Greek village. Near Fiscardo there are lots of beautiful coves and small beaches. You can also find lots of historic spots and old Byzantine churches. Interesting place to visit is the Natural and Environmental Museum where you can get informed more about the history of the region. The museum is located just above the main waterfront.

Fiscrdo Excursions

Fiscardo is also great for those that want to explore the region by boat. It is a paradise for sailors, and its harbor is packed with sailboats of all sizes. You can take numerous boat excursions to the neighboring towns, villages and islands. Around the harbor there are plenty of nice cafés, restaurants and fish tavernas where you can relax and enjoy. Evenings are especially lively at the harbor when lots of sailors, passengers and crewmen sit together, laugh, eat and drink, while sharing amazing stories. Despite its development in the recent years, Fiscardo is still not spoilt by the mass tourism. Everyone is welcomed in the village to experience the traditional Greek way of living.
