Trapezaki Holidays

Trapezaki is one of the nicest beaches on Kefalonia, located about fifteen kilometers south from the capital Argostoli and just about couple of kilometers away from Lourdata village. It is situated in a rural setting near a hillside. This beach is a quieter alternative to the busier Lourdata beach nearby. The unspoiled Trapezaki beach offers beautiful landscape and a place where you can fully enjoy and relax. You can choose between quieter spots on the beach where you can sunbathe in peace, or you can go to the noisier part where all the fun is. The beach is very long and sandy, ideal for peaceful family vacations. There are also plenty of possibilities for different kinds of water sports on the beach. The closest village to Trapezaki is Moussata, located just ten minutes drive away. The area around Trapezaki is perfect for hiking and taking long walks in the countryside.

The weather in Trapezaki is perfect in the summer months. The average temperatures between June and September are around 27 C, with July and August being the warmest months with temperatures often in the mid-30s C.

Trapezaki Beaches

Trapezaki is actually two separate sandy beaches separated by a marina. In the summer season there is one beach bar that operates on the marina. Both beaches are relatively narrow, and there is also a good shade from the nearby trees. Trapezaki sea waters are very shallow, so the beach is very children-friendly. The mountains behind the beach provide good backdrop to the beach, and Trapezaki has a very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere despite its popularity. Near the beach there are several tracks and paths for those that like to hike and walk in the surrounding hillside. For going to and from the beach the best thing is to rent a car, but there is also a bus service available that takes tourists from the beach in the late afternoon each day.

Around Trapezaki

Around Trapezaki there are just a couple of mini-markets and tavernas. The closest village of Moussata has more places for eating and getting supplies. Lourdata village is also close and offers plenty of things. Walkers and hikers have plenty of local tracks to explore in the countryside around Trapezaki. Some of the tracks lead to Karavados and to the popular beach in Aghios Thomas. At one end of the Trapezaki beach, which is closest to Lourdata, you will find a beautiful and quiet stretch of long sandy beach called Lithero. There is one taverna here where you can sit and enjoy a meal. A short walk from here will take you to the popular beach of Lourdata.

If you spend your holiday in Trapezaki and do not want to be at the beach all the time, you can explore the wider region nearby. The attractive monasteries of Saint Gerasimos and Saint Andreas can be visited within a day, and you should also see the interesting castle of Saint George from where you can enjoy scenic views on the whole Livatho area. The Sisia monastery located on the main road that leads to Skala is also well worth seeing.
