Svoronata is a very small and quiet village located on Kefalonia`s southern coast. It is just nine kilometers away from the capital Argostoli and ten minutes drive away from the main airport of Kefalonia. This traditional Greek village has many nice and sandy beaches, as well as interesting architecture. The region around Svoronata is lush green and the landscape is amazing. The terrain is mostly flat, without high hills, so you will see plenty of orange and olive groves, fertile valleys and wide fields full of colorful flowers. It is an ideal spot for complete relaxation and recharging. A thing to have in mind is that the village of Svoronata is located about two kilometers inland and the beaches are within half an hour walk, depending on where exactly your accommodation is. Svoronata has kept its old Greek charm thanks to the peaceful streets, laid back atmosphere and beautiful flower gardens.
You are guaranteed to have a great weather in Svoronata during summer. The temperatures are mostly in the 30s C, and there is about twelve hours of sunshine per day. June, July and August almost never get any rainfall. Spring and autumn seasons are especially pleasant, with average temperatures in the mid-20s C. Svoronata coastline is made of three beautiful sandy beaches. Ai Helis is smaller, sheltered sandy cove; Avithos Beach is long and not very crowded children-friendly beach with shallow waters, while Ammes Beach is very quiet beach well equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas. On Avithos Beach you will find a couple of tavernas where you can rest and have a nice meal, while Ammes Beach has a mobile cantina for drinks and other refreshments. All three beaches are within five minute drive from the village.
Close to Svoronata there are a few things worth seeing. One of them is the old Svoronata church, which is very big and decorated with amazing frescoes. The nearby windmill is also very attractive, and that is the place where the famous British poet Lord Byron used to write some of his poems. If you take a walk through Svoronata you will see many old houses and narrow twisting streets. There is a really relaxing atmosphere in the village. There is no typical main square in the village, and most of the tourist facilities, bars, tavernas and markets are located along the main road that leads towards the beaches.
Some other things you can do near Svoronata is visit the nearby go-cart track, located between Svoronata and Avithos. Bus trips to and from the capital Argostoli go daily, and the popular Lassi resort is just fifteen minutes away, where you can visit the two very popular beaches of Platis Yialos and Makris Yialos.
