Lassi Holidays

Lassi is one of the biggest and most attractive holiday resorts on Kefalonia. Its great location of just about three kilometers from the capital city of Argostoli makes it very popular. Since the capital Argostoli does not have an own beach, most of the people from there come to Lassi to enjoy sunbathing and swimming. Lassi stretches to over one kilometer along the busy main road and is full of cafés, bars, tavernas, restaurants, markets, handicrafts and souvenir shops. There is even one nightclub that works until early hours of the morning. Lassi is not a traditional Greek village, but it is a typical tourist resort with large and modern hotels and many tourist facilities.

Lassi Weather

Like most of the places on Kefalonia Island, Lassi has a pleasant and warm Mediterranean climate. Months between June and September are the warmest with average temperatures in the upper 20s C. Sea temperature is the warmest in August with an average temperature in the mid 20s C. Spring months are also nice and warm, without too much rainfall.

Lassi Beaches

Lassi has two main beaches - Makrys Gialos and Platys Gialos. Both of them are very nice, long and sandy, with shallow waters. Due to the popularity of the resort, these beaches can often be crowded in the peak of the summer season. Beaches are well equipped with sunbeds, parasols, changing rooms, showers and water sport facilities. There are also beach bars and snack bars where you can get refreshments. Besides these two main beaches, you can find many quiet coves and smaller beaches nearby if you want to move away from the noise and crowds. From the main beaches you can also get on numerous boat trips leading to other resorts and smaller islands in the area.

Lassi Entertainment

Lassi is a resort that mainly attracts younger generations that seek fun and entertainment. Long sandy beaches, clear blue sea, lots of eateries, tavernas and music bars are the highlights of the resort. Those that look to spend a quiet and peaceful holiday should look elsewhere, as Lassi is all about fun and it is a bit noisier than the other resorts on the island. Lassi can also serve as a good base for exploring the wider region. There are plenty of car rentals in the resort, and by car you can explore lots of beautiful beaches in the close proximity to Lassi. There are also a few regular bus lines leading to other popular places on Kefalonia.

The resort does have a few interesting attractions well worth seeing. The cave of St.Gerasimos is one of them. Gerasimos lived inside of the cave in the old times when he first arrived on Kefalonia, and today there is a really nice old church right beside the cave. Church of Odos Spiliou Agios Gerasimou is a place where you can get some great pictures of the nearby cave and the beautiful local landscape. The inside of this church is very elegant, with old icons and amazing paintings. It offers peace and quiet in the middle of a bustling resort.
