Carvoeiro Holidays

Carvoeiro is located in the western part of the Algarve region. It is a fairly small holiday resort, but it has an attractive location among cliffs. It is a typical Portuguese resort with narrow streets, green gardens and white houses.

Carvoeiro for Families

Carvoeiro is ideal for spending a family holiday. Everything revolves around the center of the town where you can find everything you need. The weather is always pleasant with over 300 sunny days per year. July and August are the warmest months with average temperatures in the upper 20s. September and October are also very warm months, ideal for spending a vacation.

Carvoeiro Center

Carvoeiro`s center is not that big. There are a few small streets that lead directly to the center, and there is one little square right behind the main beach. Parking is not allowed in the town`s square, but there is no need for a car as everything is within walking distance. There are lots of shops and bars here, and English language is widely spoken. Although it is a fairly small resort - Carvoeiro has many restaurants and cafés. You can choose between different kinds of cuisine at affordable prices. Nightlife is low-key, but you can go to neighboring resorts if you want to party late at night.

Carvoeiro Beach

The main beach called Praia do Carvoeiro is in front of the main square and very close to the center of town. It is well protected beach with beautiful golden sand. There are cliffs around that protect the beach from winds, so the waters are always calm. Praia Pintadinho beach is also very nice beach, located a few kilometers away from the center. Praia de Vale de Centianes and Praia da Marinha are two other nice beaches in the close proximity to the town. You can enjoy all kinds of water sports on Carvoeiro`s beaches, like jet-skiing, surfing, diving or riding inflatables. For a relatively cheap price, you can go on interesting sightseeing tours organized by the local fishermen with their fishing boats.

Carvoeiro Cliffs

Cliffs above Carvoeiro have lots of hiking trails where you can take a walk and enjoy nice views on the Atlantic. On the cliff directly above the town you will find the ancient remains of the fortress of Senhora da Conceicao, dating back from 17th century.

Carvoeiro also has a great location for having a family fun. There are a couple of big water parks close to the town - one in Lagoa and one in Alcantarilha. If you want different kind of fun, then you can take a day trip to Silves and enjoy walking by the river or visiting the Moorish castle. If you want to go shopping then Guia is the place to visit where you will find one big shopping mall. It works even late at night, so you can visit it anytime and enjoy shopping or sitting in the restaurants or bars. There is also a train that goes around Carvoeiro. It takes tourists to the town of Ferragudo, where you can spend a few hours exploring it before getting back to Carvoeiro.
