Quarteira is a relatively small coastal holiday town in central Algarve. It is often overshadowed by the bigger nearby town of Vilamoura. However, Quarteira has a much laid back atmosphere than Vilamoura, and is a perfect place for having a relaxing holiday. In the past it used to be a tiny village of local fishermen, but today Quarteira is a top tourist center in the Algarve region. Quarteira has developed a lot over the last decade, but it still kept its traditional feel and is a very popular holiday destination for Portuguese people.
